Hey Undead! This year has been a massive shitshow, but it’s undeniable just HOW MUCH amazing music was released over the last 12 months. As is our habit, we release on the last day of the year so we can be sure not to omit any last drop of spooky sonic goodness.
So here they are! The OU collective’s top 10’s, plus a few albums singled out by our lovely Patreon supporters as their favorites of the year. Most of us didn’t organize our lists in any particular order, but I will be organizing our contributors alphabetically! We didn’t consult each other before making our lists, since we wanted our lists as organically as possible. Some of us wrote intros, added little blurbs, and some of us abstained to let the music speak for itself. Without further ado, let Azy, Cinis, Maus, Maus, skullgirdle, and Vamp Daddy shower you in their top music picks.
DJ Azy:
Hey there! Here are my top 10 of the year, these are albums that I found revelatory, a great change in pace, or just albums I kept going back to over and over and over again. These are in no particular order. Enjoy!
DJ Cinis
It is a seemingly impossible task to narrow down albums that made an impression on me down to ten entries. To ease the agony, I focused mostly on new artists releasing in many cases their first full-length album. That said, if I’ve spun it during my DJ sets, I love it and this list is just that. Here are my entries…
Honorable mention to the following tracks:
“Fire” on Sonsombre’s - One Thousand Graves
“Divine Violence” on Angel's Arcana - Die Gretchenfrage
skullgirdle
With 2020 being an endless raging dumpster fire I spent a lot of this year listening to comfortable music that felt like a familiar fuzzy blanket rather than expand my musical horizons. Even so, there were a shit-ton of kickass releases that I have listened to on repeat in between bouts of listening to "I Got You, Babe" and "Space Age Love Song".
More kickass releases from 2020
DJ Vamp Daddy
This being my first year end top ten album list to put together and it being such a crazy year, everything seemed almost like a blur. As I joined in on the live stream DJ train, I quickly found myself listening to more music than ever before. On one hand, there were a lot of new releases in 2020, but it also seemed to be not as many full length albums as I was expecting to come out. In the end, it worked out nicely for me, as I've always had this split love between more synth-dance based sounds and more guitar driven dance tunes. I think my top list fits this pretty well. My extra bonus hold over was released so late last year, that I opted to include it here.
